Clacton-on-Sea Co-operative Band

The Clacton band have a huge library of Brass Band music which until recently was catalogued on paper. The requirement was for an Microsoft Access database to allow the recording of all the music in the library allowing the librarian upto date information of where the music was, where it was last played and if it was out on loan etc. The Access system consists of a single database containing all the tables, forms and reports. As this was a single user system there was no requirement to split the database as with the Seal system. The two data entry screens are accessed from the main menu. The Music screen allows the addition and update of pieces of music. Use is made of drop down combo boxes for composer and arrange which allow the user to either select from an existing entry or add a new entry, which gets added to the combo list, thereby speeding up the data entry process. There is also the option to print the complete library listing. The Concerts screen allows the user to select music for a forthcoming concert. Pieces can be added or removed from the concert listing as well as being moved around the program order. There is also an option to insert an interval in the concert program.
